Residential Thickness Standards

When ordering your **35 sheets**, choosing the thickness is critical:

1/2-Inch (Standard)

Most common for walls in bedrooms and living areas. Lightweight and easy to hang.

5/8-Inch (Type X)

Required for fire-rating in garages, mechanical rooms, and shared walls. Also standard for ceilings to prevent sagging.

Material Item Calculation Logic Total Needed
Drywall Sheets Surface ÷ 32 sq ft 35 Panels
Joint Compound 0.05 gal per sq ft 55.0 Gallons
Drywall Tape 38 ft per sheet 1,330 Feet

Note: These figures include a 10% waste buffer. For complex rooms with many corners, we recommend increasing your sheet count for a 15% safety margin.
